UPDATE: Robo-Shaun was sold at the Shaun in the City auction in October and raised £12000 for the children’s hospital. Unfortunately I don’t know who has bought him, if anyone knows where he’s ended up please get in touch.
UPDATE: Robo-Shaun is in for repairs now that the London trail has finished but there will be another chance to see him in Bristol at the exhibition from the 12th to 24th September or Covent Garden from the 24th to the 27th of September before they are auctioned off in October. He is now available in badge form and as a fridge magnet in the charity’s shop. Look out for my two new Shauns on the Bristol trail from 6th July at Temple Meads and Temple Quay
Here is my (almost) finished Shaun the sheep ready to be lacquered for the Shaun in the City art trail. www.shauninthecity.org.uk I don’t know where he is going yet, could be London in March or Bristol in July, I’ll keep you posted so you can see him in the flesh. Click the ‘view the full story’ bit at the top to see the ‘making of’ pictures.
The design was inspired by that wonderfully positive, brightly coloured future of the 1950s depicted in tin toy robots, spaceships and ray guns. It’s a bit brightly coloured for steam punk but the dials, gauges, levers, panels and rivets give it a nice retro old fashioned feel that suits the Aardman character I think.
This was the 9th design I submitted to the competition which had over 2000 entries for 120 sheep. Photograph by Jonathan Bowcott www.jonathanbowcott.com
UPDATE: Robo-Shaun is now on display outside the royal exchange in London. He’s there until the 25th of May so go and visit him! And here he is featured on the news! itv news
